Interview programme (2019). Presenter Deepa Shastri meets Richard D France, a published poet, writer, performer and now a mental health campaigner. A mental health survivor, Richard has made several suicide attempts and had long stays in secure mental health institutions. After finally receiving effective treatment at a specialist hospital for Deaf people with mental health issues, he is now keen to share his story. In the programme Deepa goes on a journey through Richard's life that is at times humorous, tragic and hard hitting, as he reveals how he narrowly escaped death and is now using his life experience to help others. Produced and directed by Cathy Heffernan; a Drummer TV production for BSLBT.
