In this episode, Tessa Padden interviews Terry Riley about his early life in post-war Manchester. The son of working-class Deaf parents, he was already secretary of Manchester Deaf Club at the age of 15. After an eventful career as a Gas Board inspector, his life changed in his early 40s when an unexpected new career in television opened up for him.
